My New Yoga Mat!

So I wrote a while back about how I put on a lot of weight and wasn’t really very happy about it.

I think I’ve put on even more weight since – I’m not 100% sure as I stopped weighing myself. I am trying to make changes though and have now started to walk home from work most days which is hopefully helping. It’s a 45 minute walk and I am shattered by the end of it, but I know it’s something that I have to do for the time being. I’ve started ordering boxes of meat so that I stop eating processed food and instead have meat with new potatoes and vegetables as often as I can. Or my usual chicken and veg pasta which I love!

I have decided to move on from my current job and one of the reasons for this is because by the time I get home I only really have time to cook, shower and tidy up. I have no time at all for exercising and I want that time back, so I am looking for a job with shorter hours/hours where I can finish and get home earlier. I do feel like I need to take this step in order to be healthier even though it was a really difficult decision for me.

Now, I’ve been thinking about getting a yoga mat for some time now and I was very pleased to be offered one by Jump Up Online.

I could never find the right one for me, but I saw these and couldn’t possibly miss out on the opportunity to review one.

My mat arrived last weekend and having never had a yoga mat before I was very excited to try one out for the first time. The amount of times I’ve attempted exercise and given up because doing it on laminated flooring is so painful!

This company stands out to me because I find the company founder so relatable.

Just like me, Steve was a self-proclaimed couch potato who managed to get up, get to it and lose two stone plus nearly 10% of his body fat. He then launched Jump Up to help people like me achieve the same amazing results that he did.

I love the material of the mat and it really is very comfy!

What stands out the most to me is the design of it. I’ve seen so many plain yoga mats in shops that seem very over-priced for what they are, but this one is so beautiful. The mat is named ‘Wailana Willow Tree Yoga and Pilates Mat‘ and I just think it’s so gorgeous. The lake setting under trees with a boat is just so me. It’s exactly what I think of when I want to relax which makes it just so fitting.

The mat is very easy to roll up and keep out of the way which is very handy when you have a small flat like I do, yet when it roles out it is the perfect length. Not to mention, I obviously adore the colour.

This particular yoga mat is priced at £30. As I’ve said, I don’t have a lot of experience in yoga mats but this does sound like a good price and is something I would buy to treat myself and ensure I become healthier.

I will be posting another review before you know it of another Jump Up Online product that I have received recently and I can’t wait to tell you about how I get on with that one!

Which of their yoga mats over on their website is your favourite?

Do you have any advice for somebody like me who wants to exercise more?

Completely understand that couch potato part. I haven’t gotten back into working out yet but have changed my diet dramatically and that really helped. I used to do yoga years ago at lunch time but my new job doesn’t allow for me to go out and do those sort of things at lunch.

This looks like a good yoga mat and I love the design and color. I use mine for a variety of exercises, mostly crunches or planks. I had a look at their website (btw, I think the link you provided is broken) and I really like the wrist and ankle weights. This would be handy to burn some extra calories when walking back from school, errands, etc.

    Nice post!

It’s so hard to fit exercise into your routine when your’re just starting out. This mat sounds great though, and I love the design. I hope you get plenty of use from it. Good luck with your weight loss journey! x

I’ve not tried yoga before, but a few people have said how good it would be for my anxiety! I need to try it

I’ve never done yoga, so have never used a yoga mat … but I like the colour! The walking must be helping though, 45 mins is a decent stroll?

That’s a lovely looking yoga mat. And I know what you mean by hard floors and exercise. I’ve never tried yoga and would love to one day and this mat would be perfect for it!
