Meet The Blogger – Mel LaBella

Welcome to my new ‘meet the blogger’ series! Thank you to everybody who messaged me wanting to be part of this – I had a fantastic response.

First up, meet Mel LaBella.

Mel LaBella is a lifestyle blogger and single Mum from Dallas who covers anything from parenting and books to fitness and writing. Her blog is very beautiful and very well written and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I do.

I will pop all of her links down at the bottom of this blog post so you can go and follow her!

1. What made you want to start blogging?

I have always been told that I was a good writer (for school projects and such since elementary years) but I was never too interested in it. I started my online college journey about a year ago and realized that writing the papers was not so bad. Then I decided to start writing my own book! During all of these things, I just realized what a passion I had for writing! Blogging came to me way later. I think of it as a way to write, spread knowledge and experience, as well as make new friends and be myself!
2. Is the blogging community how you expected it to be and why?

Absolutely not! (Not in a bad way) When I started this journey, I had no idea that there was such a thing as the blogging community. Let me just say… I love it!! All of the people I have met so far are so kind, helpful and supportive. I would be nowhere without the blogging community. I will always be so grateful!
3. What life skills do you think are rarely taught but are extremely useful?

I think the usual, how to change a tire, balance a checkbook and apply for things like loans would be a great thing to teach in high school. This is one of the things I am looking forward to when I get to my classroom. During our “free time” I would love to teach kids about some real-life tips that are usually not taught in schools.

4. What do you do to calm yourself down when you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed?

I have different things that I do. Exercising is one of them. It has become a great thing for me, especially my martial arts training. Other times, when I am getting overwhelmed but I can’t stop what I am doing, I just have to take a short break and take some deep breaths. If I have time, I also like to take a break and watch an episode or two on Netflix.
5. What one piece of advice would you give to somebody whos going to be a mom for the first time?

Don’t listen to other people. There will be judgment no matter what you do, but I guarantee you.. Mom (you) knows best. No one knows what a child needs better than their mother. Don’t let everyone else’s choices and opinions get to you.
6. What traits do you look for in a best friend?

Loyalty. I am one of the most loyal people and I remain loyal. I would love to have a friend feel the same way about me. I want to hang out with someone that I can have fun with, as well as breakdown and lean on. I would just like to have a best friend that I can count on. Simple.
7. If you could work with ANY brand in the world, which one would you choose?

BIRDIEBEE. I love the Bella Twins and Birdiebee is their clothing line. It is all about being confident and comfortable with who you are and remaining positive. I love the clothes, I love the twins, and I would be honored to work with them.
8. What one piece of life advice would you give your daughter?

Be kind. Be confident and comfortable with who you are. Don’t let anyone push you over or treat you badly. Stand up for yourself, but always be kind.
9. What animal would be the most terrifying if it could speak and why?

A snake that lives in the water. Any snake would be creepy, BUT a snake in the water just seems so much more dangerous and fast. Scary!
10. What is your favorite way to exercise?

Krav Maga! I have mentioned it in a couple of my other posts, but I absolutely love it! I have only been doing it for a few months but I can see myself sticking with it for years!
11. What food do you crave most often?

Chicken. Or pasta. Or Pasta with chicken in it! 😉 That is my favorite!
12. And finally, where do you see your blog heading in the future and what are your aims for it?

I would love to use my blog to continue to spread knowledge and awareness of certain aspects of life. I know once I begin teaching I might not be able to write as much, but I still have a little time until then! I would love to make money from blogging, but if I don’t, it’s not the end of the world. I am having a lot of fun with it!
Thank you so much for taking part and being the first in this series, Mel LaBella.

I love interviews with other bloggers! You can find out so much 🙂 this has got me thinking about life skills that we should be taught. Changing a tire is a good one. I think we should also be taught more about applying for jobs, writing cover letters, how to apply for self employment, taxes – that sort of thing!

This was so fun to read! I love the idea of interviewing other bloggers. 🙂 Also, that's so neat Mel LaBella goes to an online college because I do, too. I always love finding others who chose online college like me!
